Tiki’s
Grill in Waikiki
named
in Five Best by Coke
Tiki’s Grill & Bar in Waikiki was named one of
five best in the nation in Coca Cola’s Family Diner
program, supported by the National Restaurant
Association. Tiki’s
was the only independent restaurant selected for
innovative ways to appeal to families.
Family Diner, part of an ongoing effort by the two
organizations to make dining out a more enjoyable
experience for both parents and children, asked
restaurants across the country to submit examples of
specific ways restaurateurs are appealing to
families.
From
menu additions to dining environments to customer
education, the five restaurants showcase some of the
best and most diverse dining options available for
families today.
Other restaurants that were selected for being
family-friendly restaurants are Ruby Tuesday (locations
throughout the United States including Hawaii at the
Town Center of Mililani), Denny’s (locations
throughout the U.S. and abroad), Friendly’s (locations
in New England and Southeastern United States), and
Noodles & Company (locations in Colorado, Utah,
Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and
Washington DC).
Tiki’s
Grill & Bar was selected for its casual dining
atmosphere with its retro, south Pacific-style theme;
extensive, visually stimulating collection of tiki,
hand-carved masks and war clubs; keiki menu; and free
validated valet parking.
Kid-friendly offerings, priced at $6.95, include Grilled
Cheese Sandwich, Keiki Chicken Strips and Fries, Grilled
Teriyaki Chicken with rice and vegetables, Keiki Burger
with cheese, lettuce and tomato, served with fries,
Keiki Fish & Chips featuring fried fresh fish of the
day and fries, and Cheese Linguine. Each kid-friendly
entrée is served on a souvenir flying disk and comes
with an ice cream sundae and drink in a souvenir tiki
water bottle, A float with choice of Coke or root beer
is available for an additional $1.00.
“Tiki’s Grill & Bar is honored to
represent Hawaii as the only independent restaurant in
the Family Diner program,” said Bill Tobin, managing
partner of Tiki’s Grill & Bar. “We are striving
to give diners what they want—a memorable experience,
delicious, moderately priced food and service with
Aloha. Because we all have young families of our own, we
want to provide a fun atmosphere where children feel
welcome.” Out of approximately 15,000 meals served
each month. Tiki’s averages 1,000 to 1,200
children’s meals.
The Coca-Cola Company, with support of the
National Restaurant Association, launched “Family
Diner” as an initiative designed to make dining out
more family friendly. Throughout the year, Family Diner
offers tips and suggestion for making eating out an
easier and more enjoyable experience. More information
